Political analyst Piontkovsky predicts Russian reaction to new mobilization wave
The announcement of a new wave of mobilization would likely spark outrage among most Russians, which is why it is being postponed for as long as possible
Andrey Piontkovsky shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
He suggests that incidents similar to those in Makhachkala will intensify if the announcement of mobilization in Russia takes place in September. This is due to the fact that only approximately 10% of Russians actively endorse the war against Ukraine, while 10-15% are opposed to it.
"The majority of those who are undecided, around 80%, would have welcomed the victory parade on Khreshchatyk last March. However, their current priority is to avoid becoming cannon meat in new Russian assaults and so-called offensives that are being planned. Consequently, the announcement of mobilization, intentionally delayed until the last moment, would likely infuriate this demographic, and the events in Makhachkala will become all-Russian," he emphasized.
