Polish Sejm creates commission to investigate Russia's influence on country's security
Poland's Sejm has supported the initiative to establish a State Commission to study Russian influence on the internal security in 2007-2022
RMF 24 reported that the Polish Sejm, by a vote of 233 lawmakers, approved the establishment of the State Commission for the Study of Russian Influences on the Internal Security of the Republic of Poland in 2007-2022, which was initiated in December 2022.
The Commission will consist of nine members, appointed and dismissed by the Sejm, and headed by a chairman who will be elected from among the commission members. It will conduct investigations to clarify the cases of civil servants or senior executives who, under Russia's influence, acted to the detriment of Poland's interests.
“The Commission is to analyze, among other things, official acts, creating, duplicating, sharing information with third parties; influence on the content of administrative decisions; adoption of harmful decisions; adoption of declarations of intent on behalf of a state body or company; conclusion of contracts or disposal of state or corporate funds. Among the decisions that the commission may make are the revocation of an administrative decision made as a result of Russian influence, a ban on performing functions related to the management of public funds for up to 10 years, as well as the revocation and prohibition of access to state secrets for up to 10 years,” the journalists noted.
