Polish FM Sikorski warns Spain of Russian influence on domestic affairs
Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski warned Spain of Russia's attempts to influence its internal situation through hybrid warfare
He told Spanish television about this during a visit to Madrid, where a meeting of foreign ministers of several European countries took place, Onet reports.
Sikorski stated that while Spain has never been occupied by Russia and likely never will be, Russian disinformation still reaches the country. He warned that Russia is attempting to influence Spain’s internal situation and fuel various divisions, emphasizing that Moscow is engaged in hybrid warfare across Europe.
He emphasized that during the meeting, ministers reaffirmed that EU countries are "not tired of the war," while those who might get tired are the Ukrainians. The Polish minister also expressed hope that the U.S. peace initiative would succeed but stressed that Moscow is the party refusing to agree to a ceasefire.
The Polish Foreign Minister stated that he was very pleased with Europe's response. He admitted that if asked a few years ago whether Europe would support Ukraine and whether Ukraine would fight so bravely, he would not have believed it.
Sikorski also commented on whether Europe should accept the annexation of Ukrainian territories by Russia.
“I think it is in the interests of both Spain and Poland that the borders should not be changed by force,” he replied.
