Poland sends almost all MiGs to Ukraine, but can’t give away F-16s – Duda

Poland has handed over almost all of its Soviet MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, but is not ready to give even some of its modern F-16s, as it has too few of them

Polish President Andrzej Duda said this at the summit in Reykjavik.

“We have a relatively small number of F-16s. We are ready to support the process of training Ukrainian pilots - I have been talking about this for some time with the Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense (Mariusz Błaszczak). On the other hand, the number of F-16s we have does not allow us to talk about transferring any part of them to Ukraine today,” he said.

Duda noted that Poland had donated “a lot of weapons worth billions of dollars” to Ukraine.

“It was we who handed over unprecedented amounts of weapons for the EU, we handed over more than 300 tanks to Ukraine, we handed over almost all of our MiG-29s that Ukraine had been asking us for since the beginning of the conflict,” the Polish president said.
