Poland proposes allies to work out agreements on NATO's security guarantees for Ukraine
Polish President Andrzej Duda proposes to develop an agreement to provide Ukraine with security guarantees before the NATO summer summit
According to dorzeczy.pl, on February 1, at a press conference in Riga, Duda and Latvian President Egils Levits discussed the NATO summer summit in Vilnius. Two issues were important: strengthening the Alliance in the region by increasing its presence from the level of battalion groups to the level of brigade groups and strengthening infrastructure.
At the same time, the Polish president said that Ukraine's army should receive enough equipment to stop the Russian offensive and return the temporarily occupied territories.
“This is our most important task today, we will certainly talk about it before the Vilnius summit, but we would also like to reach an agreement with our allies before the Vilnius summit in the form of providing Ukraine with specific security guarantees from NATO, that is, taking a step further in this process of strengthening Ukraine's security in terms of its future membership in the North Atlantic Alliance,” the Polish president said.
