Poland is going to give up gas from Russia from 2023
Poland will stop buying Russian gas after the end of the current gas contract through the Yamal gas pipeline in December
This was reported by Economic Truth with reference to a statement by the authorized representative of the Polish government for strategic energy infrastructure, Piotr Naimsky.
The government representative assured that the state company PGNiG is able to replace the share of Russian imports, albeit a significant one. Now PGNiG already has a sufficient portfolio of contracts.
Naimsky recalled that in October the country should put the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline into operation, and by that time other infrastructure would have been prepared, including communication with Lithuania and Slovakia.
According to him, the current very high European prices will stabilize, as all buyers in Europe are trying to switch to other purchases than Russian ones.
"In the US, which sends liquefied gas to Europe, the price of gas on the stock exchange has not increased at all, the globalization of the gas market will lead to acceptable prices", Naimsky explained.
Recall that Poland called on the EU to abandon coal from Russia. The head of the Polish government, Mateusz Morawiecki, believes that sanctions against the aggressor should be tough, including an embargo on energy exports from Russia.
