Poland cancels Ukraine’s agricultural products import ban after European Commission’s decision

Poland has reversed its decision to ban the import of several agricultural products from Ukraine following a compromise decision made by the European Commission

The official gazette of the Polish government published the relevant resolution.

It stated that the Minister of Development and Technology's order on April 21, 2023, which imposed the import ban, has been canceled. The cancellation will take effect from the day of its publication.

It should be noted that on Tuesday, May 2, the European Commission implemented exceptional and temporary precautionary measures regarding the import of specific agricultural products from Ukraine. This action was taken in response to pressure from five member states of the European Union, who attributed the collapse of local prices to Ukrainian imports. As a result, the European Commission replaced the unilateral decisions of the five countries with its own regulation, which now imposes an import ban on four agricultural products from Ukraine: wheat, corn, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds.
