Pentagon unveils when Ukrainian military will begin training on Abrams tanks
The US military will begin training the Ukrainian military on M1A1 Abrams tanks, possibly next week. Ukrainians are about to arrive for training
Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder told VOA about this.
According to him, the training of Ukrainian tank crews will begin "within the next week or so."
According to the source of the publication, about 250 Ukrainian soldiers will arrive in Germany for training on American tanks.
The Ukrainians will train on 31 Abrams tanks that arrived in Germany earlier this month. Pentagon officials say that another batch of armoured vehicles in the amount of 31 M1A1 Abrams tanks is being repaired in the United States and will be delivered to Ukraine by the fall.
The training in Germany is expected to last about 10 weeks and will focus on how to drive the tanks, how to manoeuvre them in battle and maintain the equipment.
According to the interlocutor of the publication, the structure of the course will be similar to the previous American training program for operating the Bradley and Stryker armoured combat vehicles, which were provided to Ukraine at the beginning of this year.
