Parliament of Estonia recognizes Russian regime as terrorist and condemns annexation of Ukrainian territories
The Parliament of Estonia recognized the Russian regime as terrorist and condemned the annexation of the territories of Ukraine
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Estonia Mariana Betsa informs about this.
"Historical day. The Parliament of Estonia (Riigikogu) has just adopted a statement "Condemning the annexation of the territory of Ukraine and declaring the Russian regime a terrorist". We sincerely thank our Estonian friends," Betsa wrote.
The website of the Riigikogu reports that the country will never recognize the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
"Violation of law can never create law. Putin’s regime with its threats of nuclear attack has turned Russia into the biggest danger to peace both in Europe and in the whole world," the statement said.
In addition, Estonia supported the investigation of the International and Criminal Courts, whose experts are investigating the circumstances of Russia's war crimes on the territory of Ukraine.
On October 13, PACE recognized the Russian regime as terrorist. For the first time in history, the Council of Europe stated that Ukraine needs to be given weapons, in particular air defense systems to protect the civilian population. Among the other most important steps of the resolution is the creation of an international tribunal for Russia as soon as possible. It is also noted that the presence of the Russian Federation in the UN Security Council is illegal, "there is no legal reason why they are there."
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania called on the EU, together with international partners, to help Ukraine create a Special Tribunal for Russia's top political leadership.
