Paris is considering supplying Leclerc tanks to Ukraine, French Foreign Ministry confirms
France has not yet made a decision on the supply of Leclerc heavy tanks to Ukraine, but President Emmanuel Macron has instructed the Defense Minister to consider the issue
French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna shared the information at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in Odesa, Ukrinform reports.
"As you know, French President Emmanuel Macron has instructed the Minister of Defense to study this matter (of supplying Ukraine with Leclerc heavy tanks - ed.). At the moment, I can say that no decision has been made yet, but no decision is impossible," Colonna said.
She noted that France is in constant dialogue with the Ukrainian authorities on Ukraine's defense needs and informed that a significant part of the talks with the Ukrainian counterpart was devoted to this aspect.
"I would like to remind you that Ukraine's current priority is to obtain additional air defense systems. Ukraine’s Minister of Defense spoke about this yesterday. I think that we will respond to this request," Colonna said.
