Russian nighttime missile and drone attack: hits in Kharkiv and Dnipro, over 20 missiles shot down in the Kyiv region, casualties among civilians and destruction
The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and representatives of the regions reported the information on Telegram.
"Kh-101/555 air-launched cruise missiles have been launched by strategic aviation from the Caspian Sea. The estimated time for the missiles to enter the airspace of Ukraine is 02:20 am," the Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement.
As of 01:50 am, an air raid alert was announced in eastern and southern Ukraine. At 02:18 am, the air raid alert extended to the central regions.
Over 20 missiles shot down in the Kyiv region
The Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) said that Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed over 20 missiles during the air attack. The debris from the intercepted missiles caused significant damage to a 24-story building in the Solomyanskyi district of the capital, resulting in the destruction of several floors and a fire.
Two people died as a result of the falling debris. Eight people were injured, 2 were hospitalized. Others were provided with medical aid on the spot. In addition, about 40 cars parked near the building were damaged. The Ministry of Internal Affairs added that the death toll from the falling debris has risen to 3.
Mykhailo Shamanov, a spokesman for the KCMA, told Espreso TV about the ongoing efforts to assist people who lost their homes as a result of the night attack.
"People who lost their homes will be temporarily resettled in a hostel or boarding house. Later, experts will assess whether it will be possible to allow people to return to their original residence," he said.
The Kharkiv region sufferers at least 3 hits
According to the mayor of the city, Ihor Terekhov, there have been at least 3 hits in the Slobidskyi district of the Kharkiv city, and preliminary information suggests S-300 missiles were launched. Additionally, a fire has been reported in the area.
The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration has also stated that there has been damage to a gas pipe and parked cars as a result of the attack.
Strike on civilians in the Dnipropetrovsk region
Borys Filatov, the Dnipro Mayor, has reported that the civilian private sector in Dnipro has come under attack. Several houses have been completely destroyed, leaving nothing but rubble. The impact of the explosion has resulted in a huge crater. There are also casualties as a result of this attack.
During a briefing at the scene, the deputy head of the Dnipro Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Orlov, said that the number of victims of the attack on Dnipro increased to 11 people, including 3 children.
"Currently, 25 houses are damaged, 4 are completely destroyed. 11 people are in hospital, 3 of them are children - 2 are being provided inpatient care, one is being treated on an outpatient basis. 7 people are currently in hospitals as a result of the strike," Orlov noted.
He further mentioned that the exact number of people requiring temporary housing is yet to be determined, but assured that the situation is under control. He emphasized that all relevant services are actively involved at the site, and a dedicated commission has been established to oversee the situation.
