Over 3,000 civilians evacuated from Kharkiv region — official
The head of the Kupyansk district military administration, Andriy Kanashevych, says that over 3,000 people left Kharkiv region during the mandatory evacuation
Espreso TV reported the information.
"The evacuation process began on August 9, we announced a mandatory evacuation from 53 settlements close to the contact zone or from those settlements that are under constant shelling. As of today, we can say that over 3,000 people have taken advantage of this evacuation. About 1,200 people and 240 children were evacuated at the expense of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the coordination center, volunteer organizations, and the rest left on their own," he said.
Kanashevych added that due to the fact that the shelling of civilian infrastructure has intensified, the chaotic nature of attacks has increased and there have been wounded in recent weeks, including children, the evacuation commission of the Kupyansk district decided to appeal to the Kharkiv Military District Administration with a request to conduct a mandatory evacuation.
"Of course, this will be done exclusively in the context of the law that is in force, it will be done exclusively with adults, no one will take children by force - this will be a painstaking work that we have already done in May when we carried out a mandatory evacuation in Dvorichna and Petropavlivka communities, where there are no children now. Therefore, we are waiting for the decision of the Kharkiv Regional Defense Council, waiting for the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, and we are going to start this work and carry it out," emphasized the head of the Kupyansk District Military Administration.
