Ukrinform reported this, citing data from the Ministry of Education of Poland.
According to the database of the Educational Information System, which operates under the Ministry of Education and Science of Poland, almost 65% of Ukrainian children (183,461 children) are those who arrived in Poland after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
Number of children studying in educational institutions in Poland:
- in secondary schools - over 144 thousand;
- in preschools - over 43 thousand;
- in vocational schools - over 49 thousand;
- in technical schools - over 24 thousand;
- in lyceums - over 15 thousand;
- in vocational schools of I and II level - more than 8 thousand.
It is noted that there are probably a total of 3-3.5 million Ukrainians in Poland, half of whom arrived in the country after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
At the same time, even more than 200,000 Ukrainian children currently residing in Poland may be outside the Polish education system.
- On October 19, EU countries finally approved the extension of temporary protection for refugees from Ukraine until March 2025. At the same time, Poland and the Czech Republic requested additional funding.
