Ostroh Academy student whose photos of Azovstal stunned the world is taken hostage.
Dmytro “Orest” Kozatskyi, a political sciences student at Ostroh Academy in Ukraine, has been taken hostage by the invading Russian forces. He posted a farewell selection of pictures taken in Azovstal.
He wrote about this on his Twitter page, informs Espresso.West.
Dmytro also left a link to his photo archive, asking anyone willing to help to spread those pictures throughout thematic competitions. This was his tweet:
“This is it. Thank you, Azovstal, the place of my life and death, for being my shelter. In the meantime I will leave you pictures in the best resolution quality. Send them to all journalist and photography competitions. If I win anything, it will be a pleasant surprise. I am thankful to everyone for their support. Goodbye.”
Dmytro was called the “eyes” and the “voice” of Azovstal thanks to his pictures of injured Ukrainian soldiers that helped to draw the world’s attention to the situation in Mariupol. He is also the author behind the photo “The light will prevail”.
