Orlando Bloom passes "Ukrainian test"
British actor Orlando Bloom, who has visited Ukraine as a UNICEF ambassador, manages to do what musician Bono failed to do - pronounce "Ukrzaliznytsia"
The cute video was shared on the Telegram channel of Ukrzaliznytsia.
British star Orlando Bloom, who starred in Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lord of the Rings and is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, visited Ukraine.
Sitting on the train to Kyiv, the actor did something that Bono did not manage to do: he pronounced "Ukrzaliznytsia.”
"Ukrzaliznytsia," Bloom said without a stutter.
And added in English, "Sorry, Bono."
The British actor came to help Ukrainian children. This is his first visit since 2016. In particular, he visited the UNICEF-supported Spilno center. Here children can play, learn and receive psychosocial support.
For reference: “test on a Ukrainian” entails saying Ukrainian words, such as Ukrazaliznytsia, that are difficult to pronounce for non-Ukrainian speakers, for Russian speakers especially so.
The actor and UNICEF Ambassador met with Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss the return of Ukrainian children.
