The Ukrainian Security Service identified the Russian invader who, on February 24, gave orders to shoot at civilian cars trying to leave the Kharkiv region
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) informs about this.
"The security service continues to expose the war crimes of the aggressor country. As a result of investigation, the identity of the Russian invader was established, who at the beginning of the full-scale war gave the order to shoot at Ukrainians who were trying to leave the Kharkiv region," the press service reports.
The perpetrator turned out to be the deputy commander for military-political work of the 25th detached motorized rifle brigade of the Western Military District of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Yevgeny Zelenov.
The investigation established that on February 24, he was in command of one of the battalion-tactical groups that was conducting combat operations in the eastern Ukraine. The group approached the Kharkiv ring road from the side of the village of Lyptsi and blocked the entrance to the regional center. At that time, local residents who were travelling from the border settlements of the region demanded to unblock the traffic and resisted the invaders.
"For this, the Russian commander ordered his subordinates to open fire on cars in which there were civilians. As a result of the crime, one person died, at least two were seriously injured," the law enforcement officers explain.
The person involved was informed of suspicion for violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder.
