Putin is trading peace in Middle East
Putin asked Iran not to retaliate against Israel. Why did Putin decide to become a dove of peace?
In the upcoming negotiations, Putin wants to bargain with the United States over more than just Ukraine. Until recently, he had only one strategy: to sow chaos and create problems that cannot be solved without them.
Putin currently lacks the capacity to create problems on the scale of Syria, so he is trying to sell air. His ideal plan is as follows: sanctions are lifted, he "stops" Iran in its war against Israel, and the DPRK "does not launch" missiles at Japan.
This is Russia's strategy, and the goal of this strategy is to bring the West back to a dialogue where Putin is a partner sitting at the negotiating table.
There is nothing overly concerning here; it's simply a matter of making an accurate diagnosis and implementing the appropriate "treatment" in a timely manner.
