In fact, very often it was the action of external forces that allowed a nation to crystallize, to realize its identity, to unite often very different people and communities with a common experience, to make differences secondary through a fundamental unifying factor.
Vladimir Putin is actually one of the main "heroes" of the creation of the Ukrainian political nation. He may well be remembered as a kind of George III, who did everything possible and impossible to shape the American nation through a series of stupid, very stupid, and completely stupid decisions.
Of course, I am not making a direct analogy. Because the Ukrainian people, unlike the American people, existed before the war for independence. And there is a significant difference between Putin and George III. Putin is a fascist, a chauvinist, and a much bigger moron.
He was so afraid that a Ukrainian political nation would become a reality that he himself did everything possible to make it happen. And he did the most to ensure that Ukrainians were separated from the common experience with Russia.
Genius. A fucking genius.
