Only a "goodwill gesture" will help with Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant - Main Directorate of Intelligence representative
If Russia wants to distance itself from allegations of nuclear blackmail, its troops should leave the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP)
Andriy Yusov from the Main Intelligence Directorate's press service, shared the statement with Espreso.
"The Zaporizhzhya NPP is the largest in Europe. It is a nuclear facility that is now in the hands of nuclear terrorists. We are talking about the Russian Federation and Wagner PMC which is not in fact a private military company. It is a terrorist organization that carries out the direct instructions of the state that sponsors terrorism. The entire staff of the station and the station itself are in the hands of these people. The whole world has seen Russian military equipment enter the territory of the station and blocks. There are reports that the station has been mined and that PMC Wagner was involved in this," he said.
Yusov said that the situation poses a genuine risk in terms of nuclear safety.
"The IAEA has announced that it does not have access and has lost control over it. Under these conditions, the only way in Russia to simulate non-affiliation with nuclear threats and terrorism is "goodwill gesture", as at one time on Zmiiny Island. To withdraw, restore international control by the relevant experts and Ukraine. For Ukraine, the path is also clear: the de-occupation of the country's entire territory," he concluded.
