On May 22, invading Russian forces launched over 40 airstrikes and at least 20 missile attacks on Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and settlements in the Kharkiv region

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this. 

During the day, the enemy used 4 Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles, 5 Kh-22 cruise missiles, 2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 5 S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles and 4 others of unknown type.

In addition, the enemy launched 42 airstrikes, including using Iranian Shahed drones. A total of 21 UAVs were used, all of which were destroyed.

The Russian troops also launched 50 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems, causing injuries among the civilian population, damaging apartment buildings, private houses, a kindergarten and other civilian infrastructure.

Ukrainian missile and artillery units destroyed 11 artillery systems and 3 munitions depots

They also destroyed 3 weapons and military equipment concentration areas and an enemy radar station.

Over the last day, the Defense Forces' aviation launched 8 strikes on the invading Russian troops' military positions, as well as 2 strikes on anti-aircraft missile systems.

In addition, Ukrainian defenders destroyed a Russian Mi-24 attack helicopter and an enemy reconnaissance UAV over the course of the day.

Over the day, 25 clashes took place in the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka sectors

Bakhmut and Marinka remain at the epicenter of the fighting.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian Federation continued shelling the entire border line with mortars and artillery: 3 settlements in the Chernihiv region, 6 more in the Sumy region, as well as 14 towns and villages in the Kharkiv region were attacked. 

Russia’s attacks in other Ukrainian regions

• In the Kupiansk direction, 13 settlements in the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions came under artillery shelling. 

• In the Lyman direction, 7 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under Russian fire. 

• In the Bakhmut direction, fighting continues for the fortress city. 14 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 

• In the Avdiivka direction, 7 settlements of the Donetsk region were shelled. 

• In the Marinka direction, 2 settlements of the Donetsk region were attacked. 

• In the Shakhtarsk direction, 5 localities in the Donetsk region came under shelling. 

• In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, 20 cities and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army. 

Russia's Legion of Freedom and the Russian Volunteer Corps announced that they had liberated the settlements of Kozinka and Gora-Podol in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation as part of the creation of a demilitarized zone on the border with Russia, and that advanced units had entered Grayvoron. A counterterrorism operation was introduced in the region.
