Occupying Russian forces threaten Kherson region’s locals to deport them to Siberia – Ukraine’s General Staff

In the temporarily occupied Henichesk, Russian forces have intensified repressions against locals and threaten to relocate them to Siberia if they have not got Russian passport

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on July 11.

According to the available information, it has become much easier for locals to be sent to the "basement" in Henichesk, as collaborators, wishing to serve the Russian forces, constantly slander citizens and conduct unreasonable inspections.

"The occupying Russian forces also threaten the local population that if they do not have a Russian passport, they will be forcibly deported to Siberia and all their property will be confiscated," the General Staff adds.

Ukrainian aviation carried out 14 strikes on areas of Russian personnel concentration over the day

Three more air strikes were carried out against Russian anti-aircraft missile systems.

In turn, missile and artillery units struck 3 control points, 10 artillery pieces at firing positions, one air defence system and one enemy electronic warfare station during the day.

Russian forces attacked Ukrainian territory with 28 drones

Ukrainian air defence destroyed 26 Shaheds and 2 Zala reconnaissance drones. The Russian enemy also launched 54 air strikes and fired 38 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Civilian infrastructure was damaged and people were wounded.

The Russian army is attacking in the Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions, and heavy fighting continues. There were 17 combat engagements over the last day.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected

The situation in other Ukrainian regions:

At the same time, Russian forces continued shelling the border line with mortars and artillery: over 15 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

  • In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian soldiers are holding steadfastly. Six settlements in the Kharkiv region came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.
  • In the Lyman direction, the Russian enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area of Vesele, Donetsk region. Two settlements in the Luhansk region and three settlements in the Donetsk region came under artillery fire.
  • In the Bakhmut direction, being under heavy fire from enemy aircraft and artillery, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled Russian attacks near Hryhorivka and east of Orikhovo-Vasylivka. More than 10 localities suffered from enemy artillery shelling. 
  • In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defence forces continue to hold back the Russian offensive in the areas of Avdiivka, Pervomaiske and Nevelske. The Russian enemy launched an air strike near Avdiivka; shelled more than 10 localities. 
  • In the Marinka direction, being under Russian artillery fire, Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks near 3 settlements. Russian forces fired at more than 10 localities
  • In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops launched unsuccessful offensives in the area of Blahodatne; carried out air strikes near Odradne and Makarivka; fired on 5 settlements in the Donetsk region.
  • In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the Russian enemy is focused on preventing further advance of Ukrainian troops. The Russian forces launched air strikes near the settlements of Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia region and Zolota Balka in Kherson region.  They shelled more than 25 settlements. At the same time, the Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations.

On Tuesday, July 11, a series of explosions with detonation occurred in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk and Tokmak in Zaporizhzhia region.
