Occupying Russian forces destroy 80% of Izyum's infrastructure, about 10,000 residents remain in city
As of September 12, 80% of the infrastructure has been destroyed in Izyum, Kharkiv region, which was liberated from the invading Russian forces. About 10,000 residents remain in the city
This was announced by Maksym Strelnyk, a member of the Izyum City Council, at the Media Center briefing on Monday, September 12.
"As a result of Russia's aggression, more than 80% of the city's infrastructure has been destroyed. These include private houses, apartment buildings, and industrial facilities. But the worst thing is that winter is ahead and the centralized heating system is broken. We hope for the help of the regional authorities. It is necessary to carry out all estimates and work and start reconstruction of the city," Strelnyk said.
The deputy noted that even before the liberation of Izyum, it was possible to carry out a 'quiet' evacuation of women and children from the city, but currently there are about 10,000 residents in Izyum.
"As soon as the measures to stabilize the situation are completed, the city authorities will immediately begin to perform work in the city, before that they worked in the region," the message says.
