Number of people killed in Russian shelling of Kharkiv increases to 17, with a further 42 people injured

The number of people killed by Russian shelling of Kharkiv has increased to 17 people, including a 13-year-old teenager. 42 civilians were wounded in the attack

As of 17:28, 17 people died in Kharkiv, including a 13-year-old boy. Also, 42 civilians were wounded.

"During the day, rescuers dismantled the destroyed houses. Unfortunately, they recovered the bodies of 7 more dead people from under the rubble. Thus, as of now, 17 people have died in Kharkiv, including a boy born in 2009. 42 people have been injured", the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Synegubov.

An administration building was destroyed by a rocket attack in the Kholodnohirsky district of Kharkiv.

In Krasnograd, a married couple died in their own house as a result of Russian shelling. Their 12-year-old daughter was thrown out of the house and into the yard by the blast wave.  She was hospitalized with serious injuries in Kharkiv. In addition, 2 more were wounded in Krasnograd.

As of 09:11, the chairman of the Ukrainian Railways, Oleksandr Kamyshyn, reported that Russian troops destroyed the 90-year-old Palace of Culture in Kharkiv.

"This morning, Russian troops destroyed the Kharkiv Palace of Culture with rocket fire. It was built 90 years ago. An architectural monument in the constructivist style. Look at the photo, how beautiful it is. Before the war, there were numerous children's clubs in it. Everyday more than a hundred children were engaged in creativity, dancing, music, and singing there", he wrote. 

As of 7:16, Oleg Synegubov reported that after Russian forces hit a hostel in the Slobidsky district, 18 people were injured, including 2 children, and one person died.

"In the Slobidsky district, after the morning shelling of a dormitory, 16 victims were injured, including two children. All were taken to hospitals. According to the State Emergency Service, one person died there. The area of ​​the fire is 800 square meters. In the Kholodnohir district, there was a very large fire in an administrative building. Its area is more than 4,500 square meters," Igor Terekhov wrote on Telegram.

According to the city mayor, as a result of the shelling in the city, the administration building and cars located nearby caught fire.

"There is a very big fire in the Kholodnohirsky district after the shelling. The administrative building is on fire. According to the leadership of the State Emergency Service, it has started to collapse. About a dozen cars are also on fire near this building," the mayor said.

As of 5:42 Oleg Synegubov reported that 5 people were injured after a Russian missile hit the Slobidsky district of Kharkiv.

Previously, the mayor of Kharkiv reported on 5 arrivals in the Slobidsky and Kholodnohirsky districts of the city.

"At 4:32, the first, and then at least four more rockets hit Kharkiv. It flew to the Slobidsky and Kholodnohirsky districts. There was a fire in one of the places where the rockets hit," he said.

As of 5:15, there was information that 2 people were injured, including a child.

"As a result of the hits, there are several fires, so far we know about 2 victims, among them is a child. All specialized services are working on the ground," the head of the region said.
