Number of adult men among Ukrainian refugees has increased – study
The Center for Economic Strategy reported an increase in the share of adult men among Ukrainians who fled the war and found refuge in other countries
This is stated in the Center for Economic Strategy (CES) study.
Thus, according to the researchers, the total share of men among Ukrainian refugees in the world increased from 17% in November 2022 to 22% in May 2023.
In the EU, the share of adult men granted temporary protection increased from 27% to 29%, respectively. Thus, there is a trend towards a gradual increase in the number of adult men among refugees.
CES notes that these are usually educated people. Researchers note that 63% of Ukrainian refugees have higher or incomplete higher education.
However, the majority of Ukrainian refugees are women with children or the elderly.
Earlier, the Center for Economic Strategy reported that the number of Ukrainian refugees abroad increased by 300,000-500,000 in the first half of 2023.
