Not a word on Russia: Penélope Cruz says war in Ukraine causes child hunger in Africa
The Spanish Oscar-winning actress Penélope Cruz has decided to draw attention to the war in Ukraine and the problems of hunger in African countries, however, she did not say a single word about Russian military aggression
Penélope Cruz posted a video appeal on Instagram.
The movie star decided to support the UN children's fund UNICEF and draw attention to the problem of child hunger in African countries. The actress noted that the reason for this was the war in Ukraine, because, according to Cruz, it affected the price of food.
The actress said that the war in Ukraine continues to cause suffering to thousands of children and their families. In addition, it affects the price of food, and due to the endless drought, thousands of families in such countries as Somalia, Ethiopia, and South Sudan are at risk. She noted that she looks with great sadness at the photos of children suffering from acute malnutrition.
It is noteworthy that in her speech, Penélope Cruz did not say a single word that the reason for the suffering of children in Africa is Russia's military aggression in Ukraine. It was the Russians who burned Ukrainian fields with crops, stole Ukrainian grain and did not allow it to be exported from the ports. It was Russia that caused a chain of social crises both in Ukraine itself and in African countries.
“What’s war in Ukraine got to do with child hunger in South Sudan?” the star captioned her video.
In the comments to the video appeal, Penélope Cruz's followers were outraged by such placement of accents.
“And what about Ukrainian children and peaceful citizens who die every day from Russian and Iranian missiles and drones? In order to prevent hunger and suffering of children in Sudan, the world must stop Russian terrorism and the genocide of the Ukrainian people!” people noted in the comments.
“The main cause of all evil is not just the 'war in Ukraine', but Russia's military aggression,” the star's followers wrote.
“The war in Ukraine is not to blame for the lack of food. Instead, Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the occupation of Ukrainian territories are to blame for the lack of food,” the followers also explained.
“Ask Russia, why did it start a war against Ukraine and create problems for the whole world? Russia is a terrorist country!” people were outraged in the comments.
