The US Department of Defense says there are no signs that Russia is preparing to launch nuclear weapons, after Moscow announced it is deploying tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus
Reuters reported the information.
In a written statement, the Pentagon said that experts are aware of the Russian president's statement about the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. They noted that they would monitor the situation.
"We have not seen any reason to adjust our own strategic nuclear posture nor any indications Russia is preparing to use a nuclear weapon. We remain committed to the collective defense of the NATO alliance," the US Department of Defense stated.
