Night Russian drone attack: eight people injured in Khmelnytskyi region

On the night of August 19, a large-scale air alert was announced in Ukraine - there was a danger of Shahed drones attack and the possibility of missile and air strikes

This was reported on Telegram by the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

First, the threat of drone attacks was reported in the Sumy region. Later, they warned of possible air strikes in the eastern and southeastern directions. Then the alert spread to a number of other regions, including the Kyiv region.

“Groups of Shahed drones are moving from east to west, within Kharkiv-Sumy and Poltava-Chernihiv regions!" the Ukrainian Air Force said.

Another group of Russian drones was spotted around 12:30 a.m:

"Another group of Shahed drones from the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. It crossed the airspace of Ukraine in the Sumy region".

Ukrainian defenders emphasized the danger to Bila Tserkva and Chernihiv.

The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Yuriy Malashko, said on Telegram that there is a threat of ballistic missile attack, in particular for Zaporizhzhia region and the city of Zaporizhzhia, as well as for Dnipropetrovsk region.

As of 1:15 a.m., the danger had spread to the west, to Vinnytsia and Zhytomyr regions. Subsequently, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, and Ternopil regions were added.

At around 3:00 a.m., the all clear signal was sounded in the eastern and central regions.

 

Attack on the Zhytomyr region

The Dzerkalo Tyzhnia online publication reported on explosions in Vinnytsia, Lviv and Zhytomyr.

As of 9:00 a.m., the head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Bunechko, said that the enemy had attacked one of the region's infrastructure facilities with kamikaze drones.

The falling fragments of the downed drone caused a fire, which was localized by the State Emergency Service.  There were no casualties or injuries. Information on the extent of the damage is being clarified.

 

Attack on the Khmelnytskyi region

First deputy head of the Regional Military Administration Serhiy Tyurin reported on the explosions and air defense in Khmelnytskyi region.

At around 5:15 a.m., the all clear signals sounded in two regions of western Ukraine: Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi regions. Only the Rivne and Zhytomyr regions remained in danger. The Ukrainian Air Force announced the all clear signal in all regions only at 5:32 a.m..

In the morning, the first deputy head of the regional military administration, Serhiy Tyurin, reported that eight people were injured in Khmelnytskyi region as a result of an air attack by Russian invaders on the night of August 19.

"Tonight, during an air raid, the Khmelnytskyi region was attacked by Russia again. The blast wave damaged 30 houses in several villages of Khmelnytskyi district, smashed windows and doors in 32 households," he said.

According to Tyurin, two women were wounded by glass shards, and six other people were hospitalized in a shocked state.

Operational groups continue to work on inspecting and identifying the consequences of the enemy's night attack, added the first deputy head of the Military Administration. 

 
  • On the night of August 19, air defense forces destroyed 15 out of 17 Russian Shahed-136/131 attack drones.
