Night attack on Ukraine on June 2: air defense shoots down over 30 air targets in Kyiv and Mykolaiv region. There are 2 injured

On the night of June 2, Russian troops launched attacks on Ukraine's rear regions. In both Kyiv and the Mykolaiv region, air defense systems successfully intercepted Russian missiles and drones. In the Kyiv region, 2 people, including a child, sustained injuries caused by falling debris

Local authorities reported the information.

The spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ihnat, said during the United News telethon that air defense was operating in the central part of the country. Kyiv and the Kyiv region were once again the primary targets of the attacks. All of the identified threats were successfully defeated, according to preliminary data.

According to him, Russian troops launched cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea at around 03:00 am. Simultaneously, drones were launched from the southern direction, taking advantage of the terrain for their operations.

Kyiv city and Kyiv region

The Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) clarified that the latest night attack was a combined one, using both drones and cruise missiles.

"After the ballistic missile attack the day before, this time the attack was combined, using both drones and cruise missiles at the same time. The missiles, most likely Kh-101/555 cruise missiles, were launched from Tu-95MS strategic bombers from the Caspian Sea. Simultaneously, from different directions, Kyiv was attacked by UAVs, according to preliminary data of the Shahed type," the statement said.

According to preliminary information, more than 30 air targets of various types were detected and destroyed in the airspace over and around Kyiv by air defense forces.

In Podilske, grass caught fire as a result of falling debris.

In addition, debris with traces of burning was found on a roadway in the Darnytskyi district. After inspection, the information was not confirmed, the KCMA said.

Operational services are working on the ground. At the moment, there is no data on casualties and damage. The information is being clarified.

In the Kyiv region, no hits were recorded. However, there are victims. Two people, including a child, were injured because of the falling debris. The adult was hospitalized and underwent surgery. His life is not in danger.

In his turn, the head of the Main Department of the National Police in Kyiv region, Andriy Nebytov, said that an 11-year-old boy and a senior man were injured in the oblast.

In addition, the falling debris damaged 5 private houses. Three houses sustained minor damage - windows smashed and facades damaged. Fires broke out in two more and were extinguished. 

Debris damaged several cars and windows in an office building. In 2 districts of the region, several grass and forest litter fires occurred. 

In one of the districts of Kyiv region, the occupier's attack partially damaged the outbuildings and park of a private estate. 

Later, Niebytov added that in one of the districts of the region, two cars were damaged as a result of an attack on one of the estates. In another, a country house caught fire as a result of the strike, and the fire was localized in time.

According to Niebytov, law enforcement officers received over 30 reports from citizens that night regarding aerial objects.

Relevant services are working to eliminate the consequences of the attack. The owners of the damaged houses will be provided with all the necessary assistance, the Regional Military Administration said.

The air raid alert in the Kyiv region was announced at 01:57 am.

At 03:04 am, the KCMA reported that air defense was operating.

The KCMA also emphasized that there was an increased missile threat and air defense was in operation.

"Explosions in the city. Air defense is operating. Another wave of UAVs is coming to Kyiv," Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote at 03:16 am.

The air raid alert was canceled at 04:32 am.

Mykolaiv region

At night, air defense forces and means destroyed a Shahed-136 attack UAV in the Mykolaiv region, said Vitaliy Kim, head of the Regional Military Administration.

Cherkasy region

In the Cherkasy region, air raid alert was announced at 01:28 am. The alert was canceled at 04:20 am.

Suspilne reports explosions that occurred around 03:05 am.

In addition, the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration reported an increased level of  danger.
