Night attack on Ukraine: air defense shoots down 20 attack UAVs and 2 Kalibrs

On the night of July 13, the Russian army has fired 20 Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 attack drones and 2 Kalibr missiles at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense has destroyed all Russian air targets

The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the information.

Russian forces attacked with drones from the northeastern (Kursk) and southeastern (Primorsko-Akhtarsk) directions.

Russian forces also fired 2 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea and 1 Iskander-M ballistic missile from the temporarily occupied Crimea.

Air defense destroyed all 20 attack drones, mostly over the Kyiv region. Two Kalibr cruise missiles were also destroyed in different directions. The Ukrainian Air Force emphasized that information on the consequences of the launch of the Iskander-M missile is being clarified. 

Anti-aircraft missile units, fighter aircraft, mobile firing groups of the Air Force and air defense of other components of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in repelling the enemy attack.

"Over the current and previous days, the Air Force aviation conducted over 15 group air strikes against the Russian occupiers," the Ukrainian Armed Forces added.

Downing of drones in the Mykolaiv region

Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, also reported the downing of a Shahed drone on the night of July 13.

He noted that the air defense in the region shot down a Kalibr missile and 4 Shahed 136/131 “kamikaze” drones.

"Yesterday, July 12, in the Mykolaiv region, the air defense forces of the South Air Command destroyed 4 enemy UAVs: an Orlan-10 reconnaissance UAV, a Lancet strike UAV, and 2 UAVs of an unidentified type," Kim wrote.

Night attack on Ukraine

On the night of July 13, Russia launched an air attack on Ukraine. Air defense systems were operating in the Kyiv region, and explosions were heard in the Khmelnytskyi region.

In Kyiv, about 10 Shaheds were shot down, debris fell on high-rise buildings, one person was killed and others were injured.

According to the State Emergency Service, debris fell in 4 districts of the capital. At one address, rescuers were extinguishing a fire on the balcony of the 5th floor of a 16-story residential building. As a result of the incident, 2 people were injured (poisoning by combustion products), they refused hospitalization. In addition, another person was rescued and brought to a safe distance.

At another address, the facade of a 25-storey residential building was damaged on the 25th floor. Two victims with shrapnel wounds were found at the scene and hospitalized.
