Why after Putin, Kadyrov spoke about his successor?
The head of Chechnya, following the publication of another batch of information about his 'imminent death' in Novaya Gazeta, stated that he himself is asking Putin to relieve him. Because "the other will have new initiatives"
How can this be interpreted?
At first glance, this could either be an unthoughtful remark, or a message to Putin: "Say you are not letting me go."
Recently, the relationship between Putin and Kadyrov hasn't been the best. In his last interview, Putin sharply criticized the heroic role of the Pskov paratroopers in the Chechen war.
For over a year, Kadyrov has not received economic preferences in the form of nationalized assets, and the situation with the Wildberries marketplace showed that he is not a reliable "protection" At the same time, Putin turns a blind eye to the fact that Kadyrov’s minor son, Adam Kadyrov, heads the Security Council of Chechnya.
Initially, this all looks like an attempt by Putin to keep Kadyrov on a short leash. Not that Kadyrov has been jumping much, but at some point, he became too much in the information space. And now, Putin is putting him in his place. There is unlikely to be talk of resignation at all. But this is definitely an attempt by Kadyrov to "straighten" the situation.
He needs a public reaction from the Kremlin (even from Peskov). Otherwise, those to whom he provides "protection" may begin to slip out of his control.
