Polish companies may build generation in Ukraine: MP Gerus on energy projects
Andriy Gerus, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities, believes that energy is among the top sectors where Ukraine can have the best and most extensive cooperation with the EU
He said this at the Via Carpatia 2024 forum on the air of Espreso TV.
‘Regarding the electricity sector, it is important for Ukraine to develop both electricity imports, especially in winter, and exports, because we have periods of deficit and surplus. We have already built a lot of ‘green’ generation in our country, and exporting it to the EU is a very mutually beneficial cooperation. In recent years, an additional line connecting Ukraine and Poland has been built and is now operational. I believe that both countries will benefit from this,’ the MP stressed.
According to him, work is underway to attract Polish companies to build power generation in Ukraine. ‘Today, Ukraine has a great need, especially for the generation that can maneuver. There are favorable and attractive conditions in western Ukraine to build such a project.
‘We already have examples when Polish investors were interested in Ukrainian gas production. Therefore, we are always happy if such projects are implemented. On the other hand, there are Ukrainian companies that are interested in the Polish market. Accordingly, our companies can also appear with their investments in Poland. Energy, in my opinion, is one of the top three industries where we can have the best, most extensive cooperation, so we need to implement and develop joint projects,’ summed up Andriy Gerus.
