U.S. Intel Chief warns of ‘nuclear holocaust’ threat
U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard warned of the threat of a "nuclear holocaust" and criticized the "warmongers" for bringing the world closer to the brink of nuclear annihilation than ever before
Politico reports that in a three-minute video, Gabbard speaks about her recent trip to Hiroshima, Japan, where she witnessed the aftermath of the U.S. nuclear bombing of the city in 1945 during World War II.
Gabbard emphasized that today’s nuclear weapons are far more powerful than those used by the United States in 1945. According to her, “a single nuclear bomb today could kill millions within minutes.”
“Because as we stand here today, closer to the brink of nuclear annihilation than ever before, political elite warmongers are carelessly fomenting fear and tensions between nuclear powers,” - Gabbard stated.
She also suggested that some people in power believe they are protected—that in the event of a nuclear conflict, they can take shelter and avoid the consequences.
“It’s up to us, the people, to speak up and demand an end to this madness. We must reject this path to nuclear war and work toward a world where no one has to live in fear of a nuclear holocaust,” she said.
- The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said after a visit to Kyiv that threats to nuclear security remain very real and ongoing.
