Russian troops intensify assaults, have no gains: military spokesman on Zaporizhzhia front
The Russian army has no successes or advances in the Zaporizhzhia direction, they are simply fighting against the Ukrainian defense
The spokesman for the Legion of Freedom, Kostiantyn Denysov, said this on Espreso.
"The Russians have intensified their assault operations, artillery shelling and drone strikes. The Russian aviation is working regularly, the airborne and motorized rifle units are trying to improve their tactical position, move forward, and gain a foothold in the positions they unfortunately managed to capture during the last few months. The situation is back and forth, we have movement, the Russians have movement. We are knocking out Russian artillery systems with drones, and the Russians are hunting for ours. Mutual attacks on the rear," he said.
According to the spokesman, there were several hits on Russian positions in Polohy and Vasylivska districts in recent days.
"Russian air defense was active, which is why residents of Zaporizhzhia often saw alerts about missile threats. There have been no advances or significant successes, primarily due to the well-structured, multilayered defense of Ukrainian forces. However, this defense was established after taking into account the experience of the past two to three months. The Russians have achieved no success — they are simply crashing against Ukrainian defenses," Denysov concluded.
For reference: The Freedom Legion is a combatant formation comprising all members of the All-Ukrainian Union Svoboda party who are serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, special units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and volunteer battalions participating in the Russian-Ukrainian war. It was established in February 2015 by a decision of the 30th Congress of the Svoboda party.
- Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi says that despite numerous attempts, Russian forces are unable to break through Ukraine's defenses in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
