83 combat clashes take place along the frontline, 30 of them in Pokrovsk, Lyman sectors

Since the beginning of the day on September 24, 83 combat engagements took place along the frontline. Most of them were recorded in the Lyman and Pokrovsk sectors

This is stated in a new General Staff's report on September 24.

The border villages of Khotyn and Korshachyna in Sumy region were hit by missile attacks from the territory of the Russian Federation (Russian forces probably used S-300 missiles). At the same time, enemy artillery and mortar fire in Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions affected communities in the regions. In addition, the Russians launched air strikes with guided bombs in the areas of Malushyne, Rivers, Yastrubyne, Sosnivka, Kindrativka, Pavlivka, Nova Sloboda and Sumy.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, Russian troops are attempting to storm the positions of Ukrainian army near Vovchansk. At the same time, residential areas and civilian infrastructure of Kharkiv came under attack with guided aerial bombs.

In the Kupyansk sector, Russian occupants attacked the Ukrainian defence forces seven times in the areas of Andriivka, Lozova and Stelmakhivka. Two firefights are still ongoing. Enemy aircraft attacked Petropavlivka with sixteen unguided aerial missiles.

In the Lyman sector, the invading army carried out 15 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Druzhelyubivka, Hrekivka, Cherneshchyna, Nevske, Torske and Novosadove. Ten of the battles ended and five are ongoing. Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding the line and inflicting losses on the enemy.

In the Kramatorsk sector, since the beginning of the day, Ukrainian Armed Forces have repelled nine attacks by Russian invaders near Mynkivka, Kalynivka, Bila Hora and Stupochky.  Five enemy attacks are still ongoing. The Russian aviation struck Andriivka with unguided aerial missiles.

In the Toretsk sector, Russian forces tried to break into Ukrainian defences seven times near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. Five combat engagements are still ongoing. Russia is actively using aviation.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian invaders made 15 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Novotoretsk, Novohrodivka, Krasny Yar, Marynivka and Mykolaivka. The Defence Forces of Ukraine are holding back the onslaught and repelled 13 Russian attacks, two combat engagements are still ongoing.

In the Kurakhove sector, Russian enemy army attacked 12 times towards the settlements of Tsukuryne, Zhelanne Druhe, Heorhiivka, Dalne and Kostiantynivka. Nine of the Russian occupants' attempts to advance have already been repelled.

In the Vremivka sector, four Russian attacks continue in the direction of Pavlivka, Vodiane and Vuhledar.

In the Huliaipole sector, Russian invaders shelled Bilohiria with unguided aerial missiles.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting an operation in the Kursk region. Enemy aircraft continue to destroy its villages and towns. Since the beginning of the day, Russian aircraft have launched six strikes with nine glide bombs on their own territory.

There were no major changes in other areas.

  • On September 23, 143 combat engagements took place on the frontline between the two armies.
