31 Ukrainians, including 14 children, evacuated from Iran
The final stage of the rescue operation brought 31 Ukrainians, including women and children, from Iran to Kyiv via Azerbaijan and Moldova
The Main Intelligence Directorate reported.
Five men, 12 women, and 14 children were evacuated from the Islamic Republic of Iran. The evacuation route passed through Azerbaijan and Moldova. All evacuees are now on their way to Kyiv.
"During our time in Tehran, we felt completely unprotected. There were no warning sirens at all. On top of that, the internet disappeared, and we had no idea what was going on. We are very grateful to the Ukrainian consulate in Tehran for keeping in touch with us constantly. I know there is a war in Ukraine too, but our country does not abandon its people," said Varvara from the Kyiv region, who was evacuated from Iran.
The evacuation was emphasized as the final phase of a joint intelligence and diplomatic operation conducted by Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence and Foreign Ministry in both Israel and Iran to evacuate Ukrainian citizens from areas of high danger.
Earlier, 133 Ukrainians had been evacuated from Israel.
- It was previously reported that, just before U.S. strikes on three nuclear sites in Iran, Ukraine managed to evacuate 176 Ukrainians from Israel, as well as citizens of five other countries.
