New EU sanctions against Russia will be ready on full-scale invasion anniversary

The EU countries are working on the 10th package of sanctions against Russia, which is scheduled to come into force in February - on the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine

Reuters reported the information, citing diplomatic sources.

The more hardline EU countries are already demanding new sanctions, which, among other things, should limit cooperation with Moscow in the field of nuclear fuel, ban imports of Russian diamonds and reduce trade with Belarus, a Kremlin ally.

Senior diplomats from three EU countries with a moderate stance on sanctions told Reuters that the next package of sanctions against Russia should be ready by the anniversary of the invasion on February 24.

They did not, however, discuss what these sanctions might include.

"It's too early, we just had the ninth package," told a senior diplomat from another EU country Reuters.
