At the same time, the Danish Ministry of Defense issued a statement detailing that it is planned to transfer about 80 vehicles initially, and the first tanks will be brought into proper condition in a few months. According to unofficial information from the Danish DR, this includes former Danish Leopards, which were decommissioned in 2010 and sold back to the German manufacturer, where they remain in stocks. Now Denmark will help modernize them to be transferred to Ukraine.
A common statement of the three countries also appeared. "In the following months, Ukraine will receive at least a hundred Leopard 1A5s, including the necessary logistical support and training. Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands are providing modernized tanks from industrial stocks, the first will be provided in a few months... The initiative includes training on the Leopard-1A5, as well as the provision of spare parts and ammunition," the communiqué states.
