The NATO press service reported the information.
NATO plans to deploy observation aircraft in Bucharest, Romania. On January 17, the boards of long-range radar surveillance (AWACS) should arrive at the country's air base.
NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu stressed that AWACS can detect aircraft hundreds of kilometers away, making them key elements in the Alliance's deterrence and defense posture.
"As Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine continues to threaten peace and security in Europe, there must be no doubt about NATO’s resolve to protect and defend every inch of Allied territory," she said.
