NATO starts training units for combat operations - military expert Zgurets
Defense Express CEO Serhiy Zgurets says NATO countries are conducting exercises in areas sensitive for Russia
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"This is not the first time NATO has conducted exercises. Over the past 3 months, there have been exercises in Romania, near the Ukrainian border, and NATO air exercises. Currently, B-52 bombers are operating in the airspace in areas sensitive for Russia. There is an echo of Putin's statements about withdrawing from the START treaty," Zgurets said.
According to him, NATO countries do not rule out different scenarios in the development of the situation.
"Putin's actions in Ukraine are forcing Europeans to prepare their armed forces more actively and conduct exercises. NATO countries do not exclude different scenarios in the development of the situation and understand that they need to ensure not only the development of their armies, but also start training their units for combat operations. It is still difficult to say whether NATO countries will be involved in hostilities, but I do not rule out "black swans" that could lead to the use of NATO Article 5," Zgurets emphasized.
