NATO countries provide $20 billion in military aid to Ukraine in Q1 2025, Rutte says
During the first three months of 2025, NATO member states provided Ukraine with military assistance totaling more than $20 billion
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said this during a media interview with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio before the North Atlantic Council meeting at the level of foreign ministers in Brussels on April 3, a European Pravda correspondent reports.
Rutte emphasized that recent figures showed NATO allies provided Ukraine over $20 billion in support during the first three months of the year, ensuring that Ukraine could continue its fight for as long as it lasted.
Mark Rutte thanked U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio for his "tireless diplomacy," noting that he had traveled around the world over the past few months. He also expressed gratitude for Rubio's support of NATO and mentioned that there would be much to discuss over the next two days.
Regarding Ukraine, the NATO Secretary General stated that President Trump and his team "moved the situation forward."
He added that Trump had initiated the negotiation process, with NATO's full support, aiming to bring the war in Ukraine to a lasting, stable peace. Meanwhile, Europeans are stepping up, providing significant military support to Ukraine.
- European diplomacy chief Kaja Kallas stated that European countries now provide more than half of Ukraine's ammunition needs, which President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently estimated at 2 million shells.
