Multi-level air defense system is built around Kyiv - Ukraine's official

Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Serhiy Popko said this in an interview with TSN.

"A multi-level air defense system has been built around the capital. It consists of mobile fire groups and anti-aircraft missile systems of various ranges. The mobile groups are armed with: Osa and Avenger surface-to-air missile systems; Piorun, Igla, Stinger, Martlet, RBS-70; Gepard, Shilka, ZU-23, etc.," Popko said.

According to him, the capital's skies are defended by anti-aircraft missile systems: S-300, Buk, S-125, NASAMS, IRIS-T, Crotale, and Patriot.

Popko emphasized that the Kyiv City Military Administration is systematically and planned to improve the effectiveness of Kyiv's air defense, in particular, by increasing the number of mobile fire groups and improving their technical equipment.

He called on Kyiv residents to stay in shelters during air raid alerts, as no air defense system in the world guarantees 100% safety.

"Remember, no air defense in the world guarantees 100% security, not even the Iron Dome in Israel. Air raids are sounded when there is a real danger. Therefore, everyone must be responsible for their lives and the lives and health of their families and friends. I call on all residents of the capital, businesses - each of you, by your own example, with instructions, should motivate people to stay in shelters," Popko emphasized.

• Ukraine has received air defense systems on loan from some international partners to strengthen its winter defense.
