“Mother shielded child with her body”: Pregnant woman, toddler injured in Russian shelling of Kherson

This was reported by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.

According to the report, a 31-year-old woman from Kherson and her son, who is almost two years old, were trapped under rubble after a Russian shell hit their home. The mother shielded the child with her body.

They were pulled from the rubble. Both are now in hospital and receiving all necessary medical care.

The boy suffered an explosive injury and a concussion. The woman, who is six months pregnant, sustained an explosive injury and a head wound.

According to the regional prosecutor's office, the shelling happened around 09:00 a.m. The family was inside the house at the time of the attack.

• Earlier, on March 27, in Kherson, a Russian strike hit an ambulance crew that was helping a victim. The medics were injured in the attack.
