Moscow's propagandists spread fakes about Russia's war on Ukraine, distorting old news from Western media
Russians are spreading fake news about the alleged lack of US aid to Ukraine, rewriting old stories from international media.
This was reported by Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation on Telegram.
The Russian mass media spread the comment of US military analyst Scott Ritter, known for his support of Russian President Vladimir Putin, that US intelligence allegedly does not provide US President Joe Biden with reliable data on the situation in Ukraine. The analyst believes that the American president was misled and does not understand that US support will not help the Ukrainians in the war.
In fact, this is a distorted retelling of the news published on March 30 by NBC and the National Post with reference to American intelligence. It was about the fact that Vladimir Putin's entourage deliberately misinforms him about the situation at the front, being afraid to talk about the defeats of the Russians in the war against Ukraine.
"By attributing the statements needed by the Russian Federation to individual foreign speakers, Russia is trying to create the illusion of a lack of support for Ukraine in the US. However, according to the latest Ipsos survey, 53% of Americans expressed support for Ukraine until victory", the Center under the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council emphasized.
