Massive Russian attack on January 26: air defense destroys 47 of 55 missiles fired

During the Russian missile attack on January 26, the Ukrainian Air Force shot down 47 cruise missiles over Ukraine. In total, Russia launched 55 air- and sea-based missiles

The Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, reported this.

“The enemy launched 55 air and sea-based missiles (Kh-101, Kh-555, Kh-47 Kinzhal, Kalibr, and Kh-59) from Tu-95, Su-35, MiG-31K aircraft and ships from waters of the Black Sea,” he wrote.

“Forty-seven cruise missiles were destroyed by the forces and means of the AFU Air Defense, and 20 of them were destroyed in the area of the capital,” Zaluzhnyi added and noted that three more of the four Kh-59 guided air missiles did not reach their targets.

Earlier, Operational Command South's press center head Natalia Humeniuk noted that the absolute majority of missiles were shot down by Ukrainian air defense. However, according to her data, there are hits in the Odesa and Vinnytsia regins.

“20 Kalibr-type missiles were used in this missile attack. We know that missiles were launched from the sea, and their number is being counted,” she added.

Yuriy Ihnat said this on the air of the telethon.

“Approximately six Tu-95s took off from the Murmansk region and launched missiles. We expect more than 30 missiles, which in principle have already started to appear in various regions. Air defense is operating. Yes, there were explosions, in particular in the Vinnytsia region,” he said.

According to his information, the Russian Federation pays more attention to the central regions of Ukraine, so it can probably direct missiles there. Previously, Russia launched the Kh-101 and Kh-505 missiles. There is still no data on sea launches of cruise missiles and 'kamikaze' drones.
