More than 100,000 Ukrainians arrive in UK since February 24
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, more than 100,000 Ukrainians have arrived in the UK under two special schemes
Reuters has written about this.
According to the government, as of July 26, Britain received 198,200 applications under the two Ukrainian visa schemes, with a total of 166,200 visas issued. 104,000 Ukrainians arrived in Britain by July 25.
There are two visa schemes for Ukrainians in the country. One is for relatives of families who are already in Britain. The other one allows the British to offer housing for residents of Ukraine.
The government said the process is now fully digital and plans to process applications within 48 hours. Children under the age of 18 will be allowed to apply to come to Britain without a parent or guardian if they have proof of parental consent.
The publication reports that Britain gives priority to Ukrainian visas, and this has caused delays in processing work and study visas for many applicants from other countries.
According to the United Nations, as of July 26, almost 6.2 million refugees from Ukraine were registered in Europe, more than half of whom applied for a temporary residence permit. More than 1.2 million Ukrainians are registered in Poland.
