Mirror situation with Stalin's USSR dooms Putin's Russia to defeat - former Russian MP Yakovenko
Russian opposition politician in exile, sociologist Igor Yakovenko says that if we look at historical analogies, there has not been a 'Battle of Stalingrad' yet, and it is still ahead
He expressed his opinion on Espreso TV.
“Putin is trying to recreate Zhukov's famous method of throwing human bodies at the enemy, treating people like cannon fodder. But there is a difference that is fundamentally distinct from the situation in World War II - back then it was clear what people were going to die for, because the enemy was on their native land. Today, they are trying to explain, saying that we are at war with NATO, with Ukraine, that Ukraine would have attacked if we had not attacked first,” the Russian opposition politician commented.
Igor Yakovenko noted that in Russia, three times as many people run away from mobilization as go to military commissariats, because despite all the hysterical propaganda, everyone understands that Ukrainian tanks are not heading to Moscow, and NATO soldiers are not trampling on Russian cities. Obviously, no one has attacked Russia, anyone can look out a window or go outside and see that there are no NATO or Ukrainian soldiers there. Accordingly, there are only two motives for going to war: forced mobilization and money.
“It is impossible to imagine that Stalin would have sent people to the front with money. Since the situation is mirrored, with Putin's fascism playing the role of the Third Reich, this comparison becomes absolutely impossible. The tactic of throwing bodies remains the same, but with one significant difference. Firstly, Stalin's USSR had much more resources and the same allies who are helping Ukraine today. Everything has changed in a mirror image - not someone attacked Russia, but Russia attacked Ukraine. It's not Russia that the UK, US, France and others are helping, it's Russia's enemy, Putin's enemy, who is helping Ukraine. The lend-lease was approved in favor of Ukraine, not Russia. This mirror situation dooms Putin's Russia to defeat. ‘The Battle of Stalingrad’, if we look at historical analogies, has not happened yet, it is still ahead. This 'Battle of Stalingrad', when the Russian fascist troops will be destroyed, will take place when Ukraine receives NATO weapons and goes on the offensive. I hope it will happen this spring,” Yakovenko said.
