The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Anatoliy Glaz, informed about Makei's death.
According to him, the minister died suddenly. The press secretary did not say what exactly caused the death.
On November 25, Vladimir Makei met with the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Ante Jozic. On Monday, November 28, the minister was supposed to meet with the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov.
Vladimir Makei has been the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus since 2012. From 2000 to 2008, he worked as an assistant to the Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. From 2008 to 2012, he headed his administration.
