The Times reported the information.

At least 14 C-17 Globemaster transport planes and two AC-130J Ghostrider gunships have arrived at Royal Air Force installations in Suffolk and Gloucestershire since the weekend. The massive airlift, which began shortly after U.S. special forces captured Venezuelan President Maduro, has brought what sources suggest includes five MH-60M Black Hawk helicopters and one MH-47G Chinook to British hangars—aircraft typically associated with special operations missions.

The bulk of the transports landed at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, with additional aircraft touching down at RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath. Flight tracking data indicates several Globemasters subsequently moved to Ramstein Air Base in Germany, while a KC-135R Stratotanker refueling aircraft arrived from the United States on Tuesday.

American officials have not disclosed the purpose of the deployment, though the timing coincides with mounting tensions across multiple regions. Three days ago, President Trump issued a stark warning to Iran as the regime continues its violent crackdown on protesters, threatening to hit the country "hard" if demonstrators are killed. "America will come to their rescue … We are locked and loaded and ready to go," he wrote on social media. Iranian activists report the death toll among protesters has now reached 35.

The military activity also follows Trump's renewed threats to annex Greenland, with the president refusing to rule out military force to take control of the Danish territory. The escalating rhetoric prompted a joint statement Tuesday from leaders of Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and Denmark urging the administration to cease making such threats.

Intelligence sources suggest U.S. forces may be positioning to intercept a sanctioned Venezuelan oil tanker currently heading north of British waters. The vessel recently switched to flying a Russian flag in what analysts believe is an attempt to avoid American seizure. NATO aircraft, including British planes, are tracking the ship's movements.

The deployed aircraft represent formidable military capability. The 174-foot Globemasters can carry payloads exceeding 150,000 pounds and deploy troops via parachute into combat zones. The heavily armed Ghostriders carry 30mm Bushmaster cannons, 105mm howitzers, and Hellfire missiles, capable of delivering overwhelming firepower on ground targets.

Several aircraft originated from bases in Georgia and Kentucky, home to the Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment—the elite Night Stalkers unit that specializes in covert nighttime operations and played a key role in the Maduro extraction mission.

Analysts also suggest the buildup could support expanded special forces operations against Islamic State positions in Syria, following recent strikes by European forces including Britain.

The British Ministry of Defence declined to comment, stating it would not discuss "the operational activity of other nations."
