Ukrainian forces repel 14 attacks in Bakhmut direction, 67 combat clashes registered — General Staff

Russian attacks on Ukraine

Over the day, Russia launched 36 missile strikes, 50 air strikes, and 96 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Multi-storey buildings and private houses were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline update

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. Russia launched air strikes near 2 settlements in the Sumy region. Over 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops launched 1 unsuccessful assault on the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces near the town of Synkivka, Kharkiv region. They conducted an air strike near the village of Nadiya, Luhansk region.  More than 10 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repulsed 10 attacks near 4 settlements in the Donetsk region, and Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, where Russian troops tried to break through Ukraine’s defense. They launched air strikes near another settlement. About 15 settlements suffered from artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 14 attacks near 4 settlements in the Donetsk region. Russian troops launched air strikes near 3 more settlements in the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders thwarted 4 attacks near 4 settlements. Russian troops launched air strikes near 2 settlements in the Donetsk region. More than 20 settlements were subjected to Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian troops keep holding back the Russian army near 3 settlements in the Donetsk region. Despite 24 attempts, Russian forces, supported by aviation, were unable to alter the tactical situation. Russian artillery and mortar fire targeted over 20 settlements, meanwhile air strikes affected one more settlement.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Staromayorske, Donetsk region, and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region, 6 times with the support of aviation. About 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson direction, Russian troops did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. Ivanivka, Kherson region, came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

Strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on Russian positions

During the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 7 concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment and 2 air defense systems.

Ukrainian missile troops destroyed 1 artillery unit and 2 air defense systems.

• Over March 20, 67 combat clashes took place at the front. Russian troops attempted to attack the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces 52 times, 18 of them in the Novopavlivka direction.
