Ukrainian forces have several defensive lines in Kupyansk sector - Lieutenant Colonel Shevtsov

He said this on Espreso TV channel.

"A defensive line has long been built in the Kupyansk direction. Ukrainian forces have several fortification lines. Moreover, the work on strengthening the defensive lines and fortifications continues. We will not have a situation like Avdiivka. We don't have any settlements where Ukrainian units can hold an all-around defense," said Shevtsov.

The colonel also commented on the Ukrainian Armed Forces' withdrawal from Avdiivka.

"Speaking about Avdiivka, I would like to emphasize that our command made the right decision. This is a very good tactical move. It is important for us to save the lives and health of our military. I think that if there are very difficult situations in Kupyansk direction, on which the lives of the soldiers depend, the decision will be made in favor of saving the personnel," he added.

• On February 14, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi and Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov visited military units holding the line in the Avdiivka and Kupyansk directions.
